Jean C. Rothrock
Founder, Co-Owner and President

After graduating from the University of Georgia’s School of Environmental Design, Landscape Architect, Jean C. Rothrock formed the landscaping division for Foster McKissick and The Litchfield Company. In 1985, after several years, she founded Waccamaw Landscaping and Construction, Inc. as a Design and Construction firm focused on the Coastal Carolinas. Licensed in both South and North Carolina, Jean’s portfolio is known for a design philosophy that balances the classic architectural style with a fragile coastal environment. Her legacy is built on client trust, timeless design, and flawless execution.
Jean and her husband, Steve, have enjoyed traveling with magical times spent at their former homes in Scotland and South Africa but always looked forward to returning to their home base located in Historic Georgetown.
Chad O’Brien
Co-Owner and Vice President
(2001-Current)
Chad O’Brien is a partner and operations leader at Waccamaw Landscaping. He graduated from Clemson University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and joined Waccamaw Landscaping in January 2001 as a landscape designer. Through his dedication, industry expertise, and commitment to quality, Chad became a partner in 2004. Today, he oversees the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that every project reflects Waccamaw Landscaping’s high standards of craftsmanship, customer service, and landscape excellence.
Chad has been married to his wife, Autumn, for 24 years and together have a son named Miller. He enjoys the outdoors, golfing and cheering on the Clemson Tigers.
Patrick Williams
Landscape Architect and Project Manager
(2020-Current)
Patrick Williams, Landscape Architect, joined Waccamaw Landscaping in August 2020. His responsibilities within the company are project management, landscape design, drawing production, project estimating and construction administration. He is a graduate of Clemson University (’06) with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. Patrick brings over 20 years of experience to Waccamaw Landscaping.
Patrick and his wife, Khrissa, are proud parents to Luke, Caroline and Baby expected in December! In addition to time spent with Family, Patrick enjoys gardening and the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Todd Bird
General Superintendent
(2007- Current)
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Todd has called South Carolina home for over 35 years. He serves as the General Superintendent for Waccamaw Landscaping and Construction and is celebrating his 20th year with the company. With a professional background in landscape installation, Todd brings a unique combination of business experience and personalized service to every project. His understanding of Horticulture, Irrigation and Landscape Lighting gives confidence to each landscape project he works on.
Todd has been married to his wonderful wife, Andrea for almost 20 years. They have a son Slayt who is almost college bound, Go Chants! They have two spaniels that they adore spending time with between enjoying the outdoors either boating or golfing. He also loves woodworking and can be found in his workshop on the weekends.
Carson Maynard
Maintenance Superintendent
(2018- Current)
Carson joined Waccamaw Landscaping and Construction in May 2018, serving in a variety of support roles before being promoted to Maintenance Superintendent. Known for his strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting client expectations, Caron approaches each day as an opportunity to learn, support his team, and ensure every project reflects the quality, and professionalism customers have come to expect.
He has lived in Pawleys Island since 2018, after relocating from High Point, North Carolina, where he previously worked in the printing industry.
Christy Saporito
Office Manager
(2025- Current)
Christy joined Waccamaw Landscaping and Construction in April 2025, as the Office & Accounting Manager, where she helps keep the company’s office operations organized and running efficiently. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, watching tv, and solving puzzles. Christy is especially passionate about animal welfare, with a deep appreciation for wildlife and a strong commitment to helping homeless dogs and cats. Christy has resided in Pawleys Island since 2016 with Ernie and her fur babies, Pawley, Apple, and Meyers.
